Kestrel common

The Kestrel is a small brown bird of prey distributed throughout Italy.

Its natural habitat is open spaces where it can hunt small rodents, small snakes and birds, lizards and insects.

By observing the tail and head, the sexes can be distinguished: the tail is grey with a black band at the end in males, just as the head in males is grey-blue; in females, on the other hand, the tail is brown with black bars, just as the head in females is hazel.
