La Pettegola, nome scientifico Tringa totanus, è uno dei trampolieri italiani più comuni. Una delle caratteristiche delle Pettegole è quella che, rispetto ad altri uccelli, alla vista di un pericolo sono normalmente le prime ad alzarsi in volo e comunicare l’allarme agli altri uccelli con il loro richiamo sonoro. Per questo motivo sono anche conosciute come le sentinelle delle paludi.

The Redshank, scientific name Tringa totanus, is one of the most common Italian waders.
One of the characteristics of Redshanks is that, compared to other birds, at the sight of danger they are normally the first to take to the air and communicate the alarm to other birds with their sonorous call. For this reason they are also known as the sentinels of the marshes.
